About Western Astrology
Western astrology is one of the 3 astrological systems
prevalent in the world. It dates back to ancient Babylon and passed its developmental path in different Western cultures, closely interacting with the Middle East. It also had its decline in the Middle Ages when it was banned.
Did you know that all the stars in the sky are divided into
regions of different sizes according to their natural distribution? Each of these areas is called a
constellation. In a constellation, the brightest stars form a recognizable shape of an animal or
other object. People came up with the idea to name each constellation in accordance with its shape.
The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has divided the sky into 88 constellations with boundaries, making each star belong to a specific constellation.
When viewed from Earth, the Sun moves slowly in the celestial
sphere and passes through the constellations, thereby forming a huge circle. This circle is called
the Ecliptic, which is divided into twelve equal parts. Each of these parts was named after the
nearest constellation. They are the Ecliptic Constellations, according to which Western horoscope
theories were developed.
Astrologers decided to divide the year into twelve periods;
during each period, the Sun is located in a constellation area. Thus, everyone has a zodiac sign
depending on the period of their birthday. We are sure you are familiar with these twelve signs.
They are called Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn,
Aquarius, and Pisces. Astrologers and many believe that people born under different zodiac signs
have different characters, talents, and qualities.
