Coronavirus: What You Should Do To Protect Yourself

Protect yourself and your loved ones with these simple tips!

Published: Mar 16, 2020

Sometimes, life gets scary without any of Mercury’s shenanigans and Uranus’ mind games. With all these coronavirus-related stories, reading the news is now a somewhat panic-inducing experience. The amount of cases keeps growing, and the world has been plunged into uncertainty and fear…

So, what now? What should your sign do? Can astrology help?

Yes, it can – because astrology fully, 100% agrees with the World Health Organization on this issue. We have gathered several (astrologically approved) tips from the WHO on how to protect yourself and others (suitable for each Zodiac sign) for you.

But, first, let's bust some myths as these measures will NEVER protect you from the coronavirus:

  • drinking excess water to flush the virus into your stomach where your stomach acids can allegedly kill it proves to be ineffective
  • deep breaths can help prevent bronchitis, not the coronavirus
  • the influenza vaccine doesn't reduce the coronavirus risk
  • taking excessive amounts of vitamins doesn't make you coronavirus-resistant.

Do the following to take care of your health and try to fight off the virus:

Wash your hands

Well, this one is obvious. Regularly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub (soap and water will do, too!) It will help kill viruses that may be on your hands. Wearing a pair of rubber gloves is not effective enough in preventing the infection: you can still pick up the new virus contamination on gloves. If you touch your face, the contamination goes from your gloves to your face and can infect you. Wash your hands after sneezing, before, during, and after you prepare food, before eating, and after handling animals.

Practice food safety

Make sure to use different chopping boards for cooked foods and raw meat. And again, wash hands often!

Maintain social distancing

Maintaining at least 3 feet distance between you and anyone who is coughing can help you protect yourself. When someone coughs or sneezes and stands too closely, you can breathe in small liquid droplets – and this is extremely unhealthy (and kind of gross, too).

Avoid touching your face

Your hands touch many surfaces, including doorknobs and your smartphone (there are high chances that your smartphone is not exactly the cleanest thing, microbiologically speaking), so it’s possible to transfer the virus to your eyes, nose, or mouth. Don’t touch your face!

Pay attention to respiratory hygiene

Droplets spread viruses! Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Make sure people around you follow respiratory hygiene as well – don’t be afraid to be a bit didactic. After sneezing, dispose of the used tissue immediately.

Stay home if you’re unwell

If you have a fever and/or cough, seek medical attention and stay at home. There are high chances that your job can be done from the comfort of your couch and that all those important meetings are not actually THAT important and can be postponed or even replaced with a quick email.

Follow the directions of your local health authorities

Local authorities have the most up to date info in your country. If you feel unwell, call in advance to help your health care provider direct you to the right health facility. This will help prevent the spread of viruses!

Stay informed

Don’t isolate yourself from the news: stay informed on the latest developments about the virus situation. Follow the advice given by your local authorities or even your employer on how to protect yourself and others.

Don’t shake hands

Respiratory viruses can be passed by shaking hands, so avoid physical contact when greeting. A wave, a nod, or a bow are much safer.

How to protect yourself from the stress

  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle, including proper diet, sleep, and exercise.
  • Don’t use smoking as a way of dealing with stress.
  • Get the facts and don’t stress over rumors. Find a credible source you can trust!

That’s it! Following these simple healthy tips can help you fight off the scary virus and protect yourself, no matter what Zodiac sign you were born under!
